Block the Shock
When
running wing-and-wing the only way to guarantee the boom doesn’t
do a fast-flying sweep of the deck is to rig a preventer. But it’s
near impossible to rig one tight enough to keep it from snapping
and jarring the boom, cleats and line. That’s where Shockles
come in. Rig one between your boom end and preventer, cinch it tight,
and you’re ready to go. The boom stays snug in place without
the shock and stress of a static line. Shockles are made from tough
shock cord covered in nylon webbing to prevent chafing and sun damage.
The marine-grade aluminum carabiners are rated at 5,000-pounds breaking
strength.
Shockles are ideal for other uses including towing dinghies, keeping docking lines taught, securing the boom while at dock and as a shock-absorber to keep anchor chains from snapping. The lines are available in sizes 12 to 24 inches and range from $48.95 to $54.95. Call (888) 557-6464 or visit www.shockles.com for more details.
