Handy bungee
Like
a handy billy of old (a portable block-and-tackle), a Shockle will
find many uses on deck—easing the jarring bang on a preventer
(as illustrated), snubbing an anchor or dock line, tacking down
an asymmetric so it will give in a gust, and so forth. The four
strands of bungee cord sheathed in protective nylon will stretch
to double their length and are rated to 1,200 pounds breaking strength.
The sample I received wouldn't fetch up even when I leaned my full
190 pounds against it. The Shockle comes in three sizes, starting
at 12" for $49; all have marine-grade aluminum carabiners.
