Shockles Products - Safety
SHOCKLES® are quite strong and have been tested to have a load rating of 2,500 lbs, however, it is IMPORTANT that your SHOCKLES be rigged with a safety loop so that in the event that the load on the SHOCKLES becomes too great, the safety line will take the load.
When rigged correctly, the load rating of the system is that of the safety line. The length of this safety loop should NOT BE LONGER THAN 80% of the SHOCKLE length, and be securely fastened to the carabiner at each end.
Do not fasten the aluminum carabiners to rough steel shackles or rings since the harder steel may rub through the softer aluminum over time, especially in rough conditions.
Rigging
SHOCKLES can be rigged in at number of ways using existing lines and common boating knots. Diagrams for the most common applications, an “End of Line” application and a “Middle of Line” application, are provided below. For double the strength with the same amount of stretch, two SHOCKLES can be rigged together on the same carabiners.
