Accidental Jibe

Tired of worrying about an accidental jibe when running downwind in your sailboat? Don’t like the constant snap or potential boom damage of a static preventer? An article by SailNet® seamanship columnist, John Rousmaniere, recommends the use of a dynamic preventer and there's no better tool than the SHOCKLES®. Just rig an 18" or 24" SHOCKLES between your boom and preventer line and you'll be amazed at how quiet and shock-free your rig will become. Be sure to always rig your main preventer line as a safety between the SHOCKLES and the boom (as shown in the photo).
